Fixer-Upper Run 11/15/09

Here are pictures from our run to Chimney Rock to go fix a friends f350 that bent it’s drag link on one of the obstacles there and couldn’t make a right turn. We ended up packing a welder, generator, cutoff wheels, grinder, hand tools, and pipe (for sleeving the bent drag link so it could no longer bend). Although the recovery went much smoother than we anticipated. The old drag link came right off and we ended up modifying a f250 IFS tie-rod to fit and it is actually much heavier duty than the f350 drag link so we are going to leave it on there permanently. The recovery took about 3 hours and we drove the f350 out. Started packing and warming up the rigs at 4:00am and were out of reddington and back home by noon. Chimney rock is a great trail and I highly recommend it. It is about a 2 to get there and can range from a 2.5 to a 4.25 depending on what obstacles you decide to take. Almost all obstacles have a bypass if needed and a stock 4×4 can get to the rocks without difficulty.
